Biography

Nick represents clients in complex litigation matters. He has significant experience in governmental, technology, financial and corporate disputes.

Prior to joining Miller Barondess, Nick practiced at a Washington, DC-based patent litigation firm and served as a law clerk for Judge James G. Reinhart of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.

A San Diego native, Nick received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University, a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and a Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law. During law school, Nick served as a volunteer clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Major Crimes Unit, assisting prosecutors on a high-profile capital murder case.

  • Represents the County of Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, as a defendant in numerous matters.
  • Represented co-founders of Community.com in a securities fraud case against Community.com and its CEO for misrepresenting the company’s prospects to induce a bargain-basement sale while the company was raising tens of millions of dollars from venture capital.
  • Defended prominent California bank against allegations of wrongful foreclosure of commercial real estate property.
  • Defended one of the country’s largest property-assessed clean energy program administrators.
  • Defended Amazon Web Services (AWS) in multiple patent infringement matters.
  • Represented Silicon Valley-based Juniper Networks, Inc. as a defendant in multiple patent infringement matters and as a plaintiff in a declaratory judgment action.
  • Represented Largan Precision Co., a Taiwan-based designer and manufacturer of miniature camera lenses for laptops and smartphones including the iPhone, in a lawsuit accusing two other lens manufacturers and HP Inc. of infringing Largan’s patents. All defendants settled on terms favorable to Largan.
  • Represented a Honduran asylum-seeker and her 6-year-old daughter in pro bono immigration matter, examining expert witness in Immigration Court.
