Variety – April 8, 2021: Legal Impact Report 2021
We are proud to announce that Miller Barondess partner Sasha Frid has been honored in Variety’s exclusive Legal Impact Report 2021. The report recognizes top lawyers who have made an impact in the entertainment industry.
Top trial lawyer Sasha Frid is well known in the entertainment industry for representing iconic rock bands, current best-selling rock bands and rap artists, music managers, record labels, and touring companies. His notable clients include Smokey Robinson, Nile Rodgers, Mötley Crüe, Five Finger Death Punch, Trey Songz, Korean hip-hop duo Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae, Blueprint Artist Management, and Universal Music Group. He recently secured a settlement on behalf of Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, the remaining principal members of iconic rock band Journey. The settlement ensures that the band continues on its great success of more than 40 years.
Frid’s success as an entertainment and business litigator has earned him acclaim including Billboard’s list of Top Music Lawyers and U.S. News Best Lawyers in America®. He is a member of the Recording Academy® and a voting member of the GRAMMY Awards. The Academy supports music people in times of need through MusiCares, and ensures music remains diverse and inclusive through its initiatives.
During 2020, as the world was beset by COVID-19, Frid guided numerous artists—often pro bono—through these difficult times by getting government loans, dealing with tour cancellations, handling insurance issues, negotiating payment obligations and other matters.
The Roaring 2020s: “People have missed live performances, and it’s just such a big part of many people’s lives that once it actually opens up it’s going to be unprecedented,” says Frid of a return to live events once the pandemic subsides.
