Casey Sypek Recognized Among the 2026 Most Influential Women Attorneys in Los Angeles

Miller Barondess partner Casey Sypek has been recognized in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2026 “Women of Influence: Attorneys” issue, which honors the leading women attorneys driving meaningful impact across the Los Angeles legal community. This marks Casey’s sixth consecutive year on the list, highlighting her sustained excellence in the practice of law, outstanding leadership, and significant contributions to the Los Angeles community.

Casey is an experienced trial lawyer who represents public and private entities in both state and federal courts. She has a proven track record of successfully handling complex, high-stakes matters across a wide range of disputes, including commercial litigation, breach of contract, fraud, employment, intellectual property, entertainment, false advertising, and government-related matters.

As outside counsel to the County of Los Angeles, Casey manages some of the County’s most sensitive and complex cases, often involving significant public policy implications and substantial financial exposure. She is currently representing L.A. County in major litigation, including the defense of mass tort claims arising from the January 2025 Palisades and Eaton/Altadena wildfires.

Casey also recently secured a settlement on behalf of the County in a high-stakes federal qui tam action exposing a multi-year bribery and kickback scheme involving a former senior County official and five major real estate developers, after defeating five summary judgment motions and advancing claims under California’s False Claims Act and Government Code section 1090 to void dozens of leases and recover hundreds of millions in public funds.

In a high-profile arbitration, Casey represents BEST-Napoli Group, LLC (dba Napoli Management Group) and Paradigm Media Entertainment, LLC against William Morris Endeavor and Rachel Maddow. The claimants allege that, after more than a decade of representation that helped elevate Maddow’s career, Maddow and WME breached a 2021 commission settlement by refusing to pay on her 2025 MSNBC contract, and are seeking damages or rescission to reinstate the original 8% perpetual commission; an evidentiary hearing was held on March 16, 2026, with a ruling pending.

Casey’s community engagements include being an active member of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and California Lawyers for the Arts, a nonprofit organization devoted to empowering California’s creative arts communities. She is also on the advisory board of Guidelight Group, an organization that provides services to teens and adults with developmental disabilities.
