Dan Miller Recognized as a 2026 Banking and Finance “Visionary” by L.A. Times Studios

Dan Miller, a founding partner of Miller Barondess, LLP, is recognized for the third consecutive year as a “Banking and Finance Visionary” in the March 2026 edition of Business Magazine published by L.A. Times Studios. The magazine highlights a distinguished group of Visionaries leading Southern California’s banking and finance sector, recognizing their recent achievements and impact in an increasingly complex financial landscape.

A recognized leader in banking and finance litigation, Dan is trusted by publicly traded banks, private equity and venture capital firms, and early-stage companies to handle their most complex and high-stakes matters. He aligns legal precision with business objectives, earning the confidence of clients navigating strategic growth, distressed transactions, and bet-the-company litigation.

Dan defended private equity firm GI Partners in high-stakes litigation arising from its acquisition and ownership of a skilled nursing portfolio company. The underlying actions alleged elder abuse and related claims stemming from a patient’s death, with GI named under alter ego and joint venture theories. Dan secured a complete dismissal with prejudice on the eve of trial through a settlement in which GI paid no money. Following that outcome, approximately ten additional lawsuits were filed against GI involving the same portfolio company, all of which Dan has successfully resolved—again with no payment by his client.

Dan defended Corbel Capital Partners in Delaware Chancery Court against MediaLab’s damages claims based on an alleged oral agreement, while also asserting Corbel’s counterclaims for additional amounts owed. Corbel had provided critical financing that supported MediaLab’s rapid growth and enabled a stock repurchase at an approximately $1.58 billion equity valuation. The matter, which settled on confidential terms, arose after MediaLab allegedly sought to force Corbel’s ouster while secretly engineering a substantial windfall for other shareholders at Corbel’s expense.

In another confidential settlement, Dan represented three multi-billion-dollar private equity firms in a legal malpractice lawsuit against a top-tier global law firm in a claim involving over $100 million in debt instrument investments.

Dan successfully defended the former CFO of a film finance company investigated for financial fraud after the CEO of the company embezzled investor funds and company assets. Through Dan’s strategic advocacy, the CFO faced no charges or allegations of wrongdoing.

Dan is representing plaintiff Wave Investments in a $25+ million action against SecurCapital for breach of a non-circumvention agreement and fraud, arising from a valuable business opportunity that defendants allegedly diverted for themselves by acquiring the target company and cutting Wave out of the transaction in violation of the agreement. Dan has defeated the defendant’s demurrer, motion for judgment on the pleadings and summary judgment motion.

In a confidential arbitration, Dan represents a prominent family office whose former employee embezzled money and scammed the company out of a significant amount of money by using the company credit card to fund numerous personal expenses. The employee has also asserted labor and harassment counterclaims against the family office.

Dan is actively engaged in professional and community service, including serving as a guest lecturer in Business Law at UCLA since 2009. He also mentors students through the UC Berkeley School of Law Alumni Network and the Harvard-Westlake Alumni Association, and coaches youth sports in the Santa Monica and Palisades leagues. Dan supports the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Tower Cancer Research Foundation, Goodwill Southern California, CoachArt, Happy Trails, and the LA Rams Kickoff for Charity.
