LOS ANGELES—(BUSINESS WIRE) Miller Barondess, LLP adds top patent and trade secret litigator Ben Herbert to its partnership, continuing the expansion of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice.

Herbert, an experienced trial lawyer, focuses his practice on patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation litigation.  Adding his patent expertise to the IP team further enhances the firm’s already robust IP practice and solidifies its position as a powerhouse in IP litigation.  As co-leaders of the firm’s IP practice, Herbert and partner Sasha Frid will help clients navigate the broad landscape of intellectual property issues they face.

Herbert has a record of success representing plaintiffs in intellectual property trials, having been a key member of three trial teams that secured more than $1.5 billion in jury verdicts in the span of two years.  He has litigated complex patent and trade secret cases involving diverse technologies, including digital radios, medical devices, computer software and hardware, graphics processors, bitcoin mining, portable power generation, and satellite technology. He also has significant experience representing clients in Patent Office proceedings, including inter partes review, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

“We are very pleased to have Ben working with us as the firm continues to grow,” said Skip Miller, a founding partner of Miller Barondess. “He is instrumental in further expanding the firm’s IP practice.”

Herbert added, “I’m thrilled to join the talented team at Miller Barondess, a firm renowned for excellence inside and outside the courtroom.  I look forward to helping build upon the firm’s strong track record of success, leveraging its capabilities to provide clients with exemplary service and sophisticated representation in the types of patent and trade secret matters I have focused on throughout my career.”

Sasha Frid, a trial lawyer and one of the founding partners of Miller Barondess, has a wealth of experience handling all types of complex litigation matters, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, idea theft, right of publicity, business and partnership disputes, entertainment and music law, and insurance bad faith. The Best Lawyers in America® has recognized Frid in the area of Intellectual Property Litigation.

“Ben is a highly skilled and respected patent and technical trade secret litigator whose expertise will complement the capabilities of our IP team. We are very fortunate to have him on board as we continue to strengthen and deepen our bench of IP attorneys,” said Frid.

Prior to joining Miller Barondess, Herbert was a partner with Kirkland & Ellis. He received his J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and earned a B.A. in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado.
