Biography

Kiva is a business litigator representing clients in state and federal courts in matters involving contracts, fraud, employment, entertainment, and government. She has extensive experience representing individuals and entities in large-scale investigations conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the SEC.

Prior to joining Miller Barondess, Kiva was a litigation associate at Cooley LLP in its New York office. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2012, where she was an Articles Editor on the California Law Review and a member the Berkeley Law Death Penalty Clinic. Kiva attended Mills College, where she received her B.A. in Political, Legal, and Economic Analysis with a Legal Concentration.

  • Defended the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health against constitutional and other challenges to the County’s pandemic-related health orders.
  • Successfully defended the City of Inglewood in multiple lawsuits seeking to block construction of the Intuit Dome, home of the NBA’s LA Clippers.
  • $120 million settlement on behalf of the County of Los Angeles against SoCalGas stemming from the largest release of methane in U.S. history at the Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Storage Facility in Porter Ranch.
  • Represented key witness in significant public corruption investigations by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and criminal prosecutions of the Speaker of the New York Assembly and Majority Leader of the New York Senate.
  • Represented an international wine and spirits distributor in the negotiation and sale of a luxury champagne brand to recording artist and business mogul Jay Z.
  • Successfully defended a prominent software publisher in multimillion-dollar claims for breach of licensing agreement and related business torts.
