Biography

Kiva is a business litigator representing clients in state and federal courts in a variety of matters including contract, white-collar criminal defense, civil rights, and entertainment law.  She also has significant experience representing individuals and entities in large investigations by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the SEC.

Prior to joining Miller Barondess, Kiva was a litigation associate at Cooley LLP in its New York office.  She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2012, where she was an Articles Editor on the California Law Review and a member the Berkeley Law Death Penalty Clinic.  Kiva attended Mills College where she received her B.A. in Political, Legal, and Economic Analysis with a Legal Concentration.

  • Currently representing the County of Los Angeles in a suit against Southern California Gas Company concerning cleanup following largest natural gas leak in U.S. history.
  • Represented key witness in significant public corruption investigations by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and criminal prosecutions of the Speaker of the New York Assembly and Majority Leader of the New York Senate.
  • Represented international wine and spirits distributor in negotiation and sale of luxury champagne brand to recording artist and business mogul Jay Z.
  • Successfully defended prominent software publisher in multimillion dollar claims for breach of licensing agreement and related business torts.
