About The Firm

Miller Barondess, LLP is a 40-lawyer firm in Los Angeles specializing in high-stakes litigation, trial, and appellate work in California and around the country.  The firm represents clients in a wide range of sectors, including technology, real estate, healthcare, entertainment/media, sports, consumer products, insurance, real estate, environmental, licensing, financial services and mergers and acquisitions.  The firm also has significant experience representing government clients.  With a reputation for victories in “bet-the-company” cases, the firm is frequently hired to “save the day” before trial.  Other law firms call us when their clients need a trial team.

Miller Barondess was founded by trial lawyer Skip Miller in 2006, along with his sons Dan and Jim, and partners Mark Barondess and Sasha Frid.  As we continue to grow our ranks, our approach to client service remains the same—work in teams from start to finish, so we can give our clients more personalized, consistent, and cost-effective service. Many of our lawyers come from Big Law, so we have that expertise, but we also develop closer and ongoing relationships with clients.  Every partner and every client has access to and the support of our entire team.

Our team has a track record of success during all phases of litigation, including dismissal at the outset, defeating case-dispositive injunctions, winning summary judgments, prevailing in jury and court trials, and at the appellate level on both interlocutory and final appeals.  We have achieved Top Verdict recognition on both the plaintiff and defense sides, including a $256 million verdict for fraud and punitive damages against Nissan (one of the top plaintiff verdicts in the country); a $46 million jury verdict for Pou Chen Corporation, one of the largest international conglomerates involving a failed business venture to sell electronic products to Wal-Mart (a top 10 plaintiff verdict in California); a unanimous jury verdict on behalf of a commercial bank (a top 10 defense verdict in California); won summary judgment on behalf of the County of Los Angeles in a FLSA class action lawsuit relating to the State of California’s IHSS program, in which plaintiffs sought nearly $50 million (a top defense verdict in California); and won a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling vacating a preliminary injunction issued by U.S. District Judge David O. Carter against the County of Los Angeles (a top appellate reversal in California).

Some of the firm’s other high profile victories include having successfully represented investors who put a billion dollars into Internet incubator Idealab; a $120 million settlement on behalf of the County of Los Angeles against SoCalGas stemming from the Aliso Canyon gas leak; a $7 million judgment against musician Michael Jackson in a jury trial in Santa Maria; defended the maker of Seven Jeans in a multi-hundred million dollar partnership dispute; and won a defense verdict in a major lender liability action for the largest bank headquartered in Los Angeles.
