The Los Angeles Business Journal has named partners Sasha Frid and Jason H. Tokoro on its 2026 “Leaders of Influence: Litigators and Trial Attorneys” list. This prestigious annual feature recognizes the top litigators and trial attorneys across the Los Angeles region.
Sasha Frid, a founding partner of Miller Barondess and Chair of the firm’s Entertainment and Intellectual Property practices, is an elite trial lawyer known for delivering decisive victories in complex, high-stakes disputes that frequently draw media attention. A go-to litigator for entertainers, music labels, global corporations, real estate developers, financial institutions, private equity firms, and fashion icons, he excels in business and partnership disputes, real estate, copyright and trademark matters, right of publicity, trade secret misappropriation, and insurance bad-faith litigation. In a recent victory, Sasha secured a major arbitration win for investment bank CriticalPoint Partners LLC, resulting in a Los Angeles Superior Court-confirmed award requiring former executives to disgorge approximately $1.18 million in wrongfully obtained profits, plus a sweeping five-year injunction and compliance measures. On the entertainment front, he obtained a complete defense victory for Mötley Crüe against all claims by former guitarist Mick Mars in a closely watched three-year arbitration, successfully upholding the band’s position on touring rights, termination for cause, and ownership repurchase. Additional standout results include favorable resolutions for Conan Gray, Logic, Montell Fish, and Tommy Lee; vacating an $11.2 million judgment against Trey Songz; and securing a precedent-setting 689-day prison sentence against a stalker of Nikki Sixx based on repeated online harassment.
Jason H. Tokoro, a partner at Miller Barondess, is an accomplished trial lawyer who represents public entities and private clients in high-stakes, high-exposure litigation. His practice focuses on complex commercial and business disputes, civil rights, First Amendment, employment, and intellectual property matters. As outside counsel to the County of Los Angeles, Jason routinely handles the County’s most sensitive and significant cases involving substantial public policy implications and multimillion-dollar stakes. Recent victories include securing a confidential settlement in a high-profile federal qui tam action involving an alleged multi-year bribery and kickback scheme with a former senior County official and major real estate developers. Jason intervened, defeated five motions to dismiss, and pursued claims to void dozens of leases and recover taxpayer funds under California’s False Claims Act and Government Code section 1090. He also obtained Judgment as a Matter of Law mid-trial in a First Amendment lawsuit brought by LASD Captain Benjamin Torres, resulting in complete dismissal of all claims. Additional successes include securing full dismissal of a civil rights action alleging an off-duty deputy assault and cover-up outside a Santa Clarita bar and winning a complete anti-SLAPP dismissal of former Sheriff Alex Villanueva’s state court lawsuit, clearing the path for the County to recover attorneys’ fees.
